Foothill High School
2023-24 Orientation
Beginning January 30th through February 3rd, Counselors will give orientation presentations during scheduled class times in the 9th grade Biology classes, 10th grade English classes and 11th grade U.S. History classes. February 13th through March 3rd students will have the opportunity to select their courses for the next school year. Counselors will meet individually with students to complete their registration for the 2023-24 school year.
When students begin the course selection process, several considerations need to be made regarding which courses should be chosen. First and foremost, students need to meet the TUSD graduation requirements, both the subject and credit requirements. The next consideration is the requirements for college admission. This is an opportunity to ask questions, make sure students are on track, not only for high school graduation, but also to meet their college and/or career goals.
The student’s current academic teachers will make recommendations regarding the courses he/she should enroll in for the following year. Students will receive information which contains instructions for completing their course registration as well as their teacher recommendations. Students will have a specific time frame in which to select their courses. After the selection process has been completed, students will submit through the academic planner.
Registration (Counselor meetings) will take place the cafeteria during the following dates:
-
9th graders: Feb 27th - March 3rd
-
10th graders: Feb. 21st -23rd
-
11th graders: Feb. 13th -16th
Please make sure your student attends their session to meet individually with their counselor to review the courses selected. This is an opportunity for the counselor to determine whether the student is meeting both graduation requirements and A-G UC subject requirements. Students can clarify any questions at this time regarding appropriate course sequence and level of rigor in course work.
