FAFSA Steps

You have filled out the FAFSA / CA Dream Act...Now what?

1.   Check your email & house address on Aeries - VERY IMPORTANT

a.     Please click on the link below and review the information Ms. Haidar has sent regarding FAFSA/ Cal Grant

b.    https://www.tustin.k12.ca.us/foothill/academics/college-and-career/cal-grant

c.     If any corrections are needed, please fill out the form located on the website above and turn into Ms. Haidar

2.  Find your Expected Family Contribution (EFC)

a.     Located under the Student Aid Report and review what your projected EFC is for each college you applied to

3.  Double check the schools you listed

a.     Take away or add any additional schools if appropriate

4.  Make any corrections needed

a.     Need to change something on your application? Now is the time!

5.   Check on your Cal Grant Status

a.     After your submit your FAFSA, your cal grant application will be automatically submitted and TUSD will submit your transcript for GPA verification

                     i.      Create an account on https://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov/ to verify and review awards granted

6.  Apply for scholarships

a.     Free money is the best money! Here is a google doc that has an abundance of scholarship information

7.  Frequently check your email for any missing documents a college may be asking for

a.     The colleges you listed on your FAFSA may email you asking for additional documents, CHECK YOUR EMAIL FREQUENTLY!

8.  Review your financial packages

a.     Each college will provide you with their financial aid package if admitted. Review this information and see what awards / loans you were given

b.    Be aware of your student loans and what your estimated cost will be for attendance for 4 years (calculate, calculate, calculate!)

9.  SET AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE FINANCIAL AID OFFICE AT YOUR FUTURE SCHOOL

a.     After you have accepted the college you wish to attend, make an appointment with the financial aid office! Financial aid administrators are there to help you understand your financial aid packages and answer any questions you may have!
