Advanced Placement

At Foothill High School, we value offering opportunities for all students to participate in Advanced Placement courses. We believe it is important for students to have the experience of a college-level course so that they are prepared for higher-level courses of study in the future. Student success is defined as increased access to Advanced Placement curriculum, enjoyment of the learning that takes place in an Advanced Placement course, and the opportunity for students to demonstrate grit and perseverance. The Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer the opportunity to earn college course credit for those students who demonstrate ability, interest, and motivation to prepare and take an advanced placement exam. Grades earned for AP courses are weighted using the following grade point scale: A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 1, F = 0.

When enrolling in an AP course, students must plan to register for the AP Exam. Parents, students, and teachers will be asked to sign a contract that clarifies class expectations.
